Jaycar Supports the Female Pathways Program at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
We are thrilled to announce that Jaycar, along with the Bayard Foundation, have entered a three-year partnership with the legendary Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, one of Australia's pioneering rugby league clubs!
Commencing in the 2024 season, Jaycar will be the Bulldogs' Official Pathways Partner, as well as the Women's Pathways Partner.
Chris Wilesmith, our CEO shared our enthusiasm in a press release recently about the new partnership. "We are delighted to re-join the Bulldogs family and be part of this exciting journey towards creating a legacy for women in rugby league. Together, we hope to inspire and uplift talented female athletes and contribute to the growth and development of the game at every level."
Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton added: "We share a rich history with Jaycar Electronics having achieved a great number of things together. Both Kerry-Anne and Gary were always firm supporters of the club's philanthropic and community initiatives, continually giving back to and supporting the Bulldogs Rugby League community generously."
The partnership between Jaycar Electronics and the Bulldogs is a legacy that started back in 2009. This is thanks to the late founder of Jaycar, Gary Johnston. For ten strong, consecutive seasons, this bond continued and during this time, the Bulldogs made it to the NRL Grand Final in 2012 and 2014. Carrying on this legacy is Chair of the Jaycar Electronics Group, Kerry-Anne Johnston.
We hear you asking, "But what is the Pathways program?" – this exciting initiative nurtures the talent of aspiring players, and fosters their development from way down in the grassroots, championing them to the elite levels to play professionally. It leverages some pioneering competitions and teams, to provide a best-in-class pathway for players to progress through the ranks.
The Bulldogs have Pathways teams participating in the following leagues:
• NSW Cup Reserve Grade
• Jersey Flegg Cup
• Harold Mathews Cup
• S.G. Ball Cup
• Harvey Norman Women's Premiership
• Tarsha Gale Women's Cup
• Lisa Fiaola Women's Cup
All these teams foster future stars, honing their skills and preparing them for the professional stage.
The Bulldogs' commitment to womens' rugby league is especially noteworthy – pushing to receive a spot in the NRLW for 2025. Through their diverse, inclusive and forward-thinking Pathways schemes, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs continue to shape the future of rugby league. New talent comes to the forefront, and fantastic opportunities are carved out for aspiring players to make their mark.
At Jaycar, we are excited to continue this collaboration with the Bulldogs, alongside The Bayard Foundation, to empower women and provide them with the resources and support needed to excel in life and the sport of Rugby League.
