Very impressive
My 11yr old built it! Loved watching him see something work that he built himself. Definitely worth the money and memory.
A radio to tinker with
The kit I got was easy to assemble until I found the antenna ferrite was partially blocking a screw mounting hole. The other 3 screws held the board securely enough. I used an 18650 Lipo battery which is recharged by a TP4056 module and a solar panel. I found out this chip has a I2C interface. I plan on, hopefully, making an Arduino controlled radio. I like this radio, it works well on the AM band, where my favourite stations are.
Liked it, but donβt love it.
I bought this from my Jaycar store and when I got home, I started to assemble it. The cardboard housing was sticking out a little, and because of this, the knobs were all wobbly and can easily come off. The power plug socket is very small and not many people have a 4.5 volt transformer adaptor. The stickers were all fiddly and the coil was a bit loose. It looks good, but needs some little working on design.
