Sunswift Racing

Sunswift Racing is a Sydney-based team pioneering sustainable transport through the development of world-class prototype electric cars. Since 1996 they’ve built seven solar vehicles (with an eighth in production), achieved consistent success in the World Solar Challenge and set records recognised by both the FIA and Guinness World Records, all while advancing technology through partnerships with industry leaders. 

Since 1997 Jaycar Electronics has been a proud sponsor of the University of New South Wales’ Sunswift Racing Team. Some of our customers may recall the Aurora Q1 solar vehicle gracing the front cover of our 1997 catalogue. The Aurora Q1’s ninth-place overall finish, third among Australian entrants and second in the lead-acid class, demonstrated the power of collaboration between industry and emerging engineers. Remarkably, the entire entry was student-led. 
Today, more than 25 years on, Jaycar’s partnership with Sunswift remains as strong as ever.
