Note: Most AM broadcasting services in Australia use the medium frequency (MF or MW) band and occupy the frequency range between 526.5kHz and 1606.5kHz, with each channel designated by its carrier frequency. The standard channel spacing is in Australia is 9kHz. There are also many AM radio stations above the standard AM broadcast frequency range which the AR-1733 will allow you to tune into. To change the AM tuning band from 522-1620kHz to 520-1710kHz on the AR-1733, firstly make sure the Radio is Off ie time displayed. Press and hold the channel spacing 9/10kHz button until the display reads MW 10kHz. This changes the AM tuning band to 520-1710kHz with 10kHz spacing. You can now enter the exact station frequency ie 1683kHz by pressing the FREQ button, then the AM frequency by using the keypad 1, 6, 8, and 3. Pressing the 9/10kHz button again will change it back to the standard 522-1620kHz with 9kHz spacing.

Digitech PLL Radio - very disappointing
I bought this radio to use while travelling in our caravan. After 14 months the radio started to malfunction, working only sometimes.I made sure the batteries were new, but that didn't help. I called Jaycar and explained the problem and were not interested as it was out of guarantee. I have a small sony radio that I have used for 22 years and it has never let me down! I expected many years of use from Jaycar's radio, espcially at $79, very disappointed abd would definitely not recommend to anyone looking to buy a radio.
A great little unit
I have two of these little units - one for home and one for caravan - and I love them. One I have had for at least 15 years. It gets used everyday - so often that the key pad has worn. I use the timer quite regularly so the radio isn't left on, and my stations are preset. I also lock the keypad when travelling so the radio doesn't come on accidentally. Quality batteries in the unit last a good while. The instructions are easy to follow. A lovely compact unit with good sound. I love it!
Good Radio
A good radio but can be a bit fiddly to use buttons could be easier to use.
