Rubber Boot too tight

MouWDecember 2025

I did some online research before purchasing this antenna. Some other retailers selling the same product for twice the price. So credit for Jaycar charging a reasonable price. Its signal reception is good enough for my transmit tower which is 40.5km away, I think thanks to its design (X shape elements). But in the mean time the elements feel flimsy (however it doesn't mean it doesn't resist strong wind) The only thing not so good is the Rubber Boot, its internal space is very tight for the crimp connector (while the old antenna has no problem). Finally, I tried very hard to manage to slide the rubber boot to cover the connector with no gap (there are even small rubber particles in my hands). Not sure pushing this hard will reduce the life span of the rubber boot. The rubber boot may be suitable for a screw on connector (which is smaller, but not included in the antenna box). I don't understand why the rubber boot internal space is designed to be this tight, the old antenna has a much bigger rubber boot and no problem of rust inside after so many years.
