Plug can short circuit
This socket has a small spring inside to hold the plug which protrudes towards the central contact, unfortunately, it can short circuit the plug... not a great design. Less a problem is the plastic insulation inside, which can melt if you apply too much heat when soldering the central contact. I would rather pay more and get a quality product. I have thrown my sockets away.
Low temperature plastic insulator
Center conductor difficult to tin with solder. Once a bead is formed, the low temperature plastic insulator melts and centre pin distorts or pops out. See photo.
Change your supplier, please!
The centre/positive pin on these is solder resistant. No amount of flux makes it stick. I've used maybe 10 so far, and every time the heat and time involved in making that ***** centre pin solder is enough to get the insulating plastic molten.
Avoid.
Agree with the other 1-star reviews here. Center pin has no tag and is difficult to solder, and applying enough heat to melt the solder will cause the pin to move out of place and short. Avoid.
Good product if you know how to solder, if you donβt then it can be tricky as the positive connection is very small, tin the connection, tin your wire apply the heat, job done!
works for all your project set ups
perfect size and works well for all small project and price compatable
